Default What Best 2ND Class for Hammer?

I was wondering what secondary class would be best for a hammer user. Warrior and --------. And is dwarvern stance good to put on ur bar ever?

It might have a use in a specific gvg build, but generally DBS is to be avoided. Bring something like an adrenaline production enhancer instead, since your knockdowns are already a ton of good interrupt.

As to the secondary...it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Too many variables to just declare one as "the best".

I would say that Elementalist is the most common with knockdown/aftershock build.

I think that a Necro is the most damaging, especially with plague touch as your condition remover.

Elementalist (for aftershock) or monk (for holy strike) are both good.

Use devastating hammer or maybe earthshaker for your elite, not DBS or backbreaker.

Anyone know a good build that uses backbreaker? I like it for the crazy long KD time, but it uses so much more adrenaline than the other nonelite KD skills that drain all of your adrenaline (so you can't use them first) that you can't do your KD chain often enough. I have yet to find a use for it.

Elementalist for aftershock is very popular, although there isn't really much reason for this. Aftershock takes a hell of a long time to cast/aftercast, time during which you could be landing hits that will probably out-damage aftershock.

Here are some good options you might want to look in to:

Shock (ele air) or Gale (ele air) for an added knockdown.
Judge's Insight (monk smiting) for some good added damage. Some people run life bond (monk protection) on warriors but it can get ugly when you're using frenzy, which you should be using.
Blackout (mesmer domination) at the end of a hammer knockdown chain, to disable the target for an additional 5s.
Plague Touch (necro) if you're playing arena and need condition removal. There are also some other necro skills that might be useful in arenas where you're usually by yourself, but in general you want to stay away from long cast times.

edit: don't use backbreaker. When using stonefist gloves, you only get an extra second of knockdown from backbreaker compared to devastating hammer, at the cost of 3 extra adrenaline. Not really worth it.

I'd say smite monk. You get holy strike and smite hex, plus Judge's Insight if you want it and have the energy.

w/n with hammer is so much fun. weaken armor and pound the crap out of them. 5 to 6 hits and its over. they usually spend that much time running.

personally i dont think it matters what your second profession is...when i run a hammer war i use all warrior skills....once i get my chain on you, you arent getting away
